Our Pastor

Pastor Lawrence E. Woods is an energetic communicator who is anointed to preach a powerful and practical truth of God's word to audiences of all ages. As a native of Corrigan Texas, Pastor Woods began to exhibit his athletic ability as a teen and was offered a four-year football scholarship to the University of Houston. This ultimately led him to become a permanent resident in the city of Houston. He was born to the late Anderson Woods and late Creola Woods.  He is the youngest of eleven children - six girls and five boys. He married Stacey Kennedy in August of 1983. They were blessed with two sons, DeLawrence (Courtney) & Brandyn Woods (Aisha), granddaughters Jayda Woods & Caley Woods, and grandsons Caleb, Easton, & Elijah Woods. 

Pastor Lawrence E. Woods was called to the ministry in 2001 under the leadership of Pastor Dr. L. A. Kennedy where he served faithfully as Associate pastor for 9 years. When his Pastor, as well as father-in-law, Bishop-Elect Kennedy, resigned his pastoral position in August of 2010, after pastoring for 37 years, Pastor Woods, obediently fulfilled his calling as Senior Pastor of The Fellowship of Enlightenment, New Community Baptist Church. Pastor Woods states he never thought that meeting Pastor Kennedy's daughter would lead him in the area of ministry that God has placed on his life. Having received his mandate from God, Pastor Woods was ordained in July 2010 and officially installed as pastor on September 19, 2010. Pastor Woods has a passion for God's word, coupled with a love for God's people. 

Pastor Woods has a contagious spirit of generosity and an outgoing personality that flows through every facet of his ministry. His vision is uncompromisingly clear, with one central principle; to build and develop a kingdom of empowered people for God. Holding firmly to the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations", Pastor Woods exemplifies the epitome of the spirit of David, "A man after God's own heart." His ministry is to enlighten the people of God. His message is simply the uncompromising Word of God. His desire is to show the Love of God and his charge is to prepare the people of God for His return.
